Literacy Lesson Plans
Climbing Cat's Word Adventure is a structured literacy lesson for Pre-K and Kindergarten (45-60 minutes).
Students use a vertical Superspace literacy board with felt letters and animals to practice phoneme segmentation, letter-sound correspondence, and CVC word building. Starting with a simple animal story, children isolate sounds, trace and build words like cat, bat, and mat, then demonstrate comprehension through story sequencing and illustration.
The vertical, sensory-rich format supports fine motor skills, balance, and focus while giving early readers a physical memory of how words are built. Differentiation options include picture card supports, independent writing extensions, and SEL integration.

Creative Storytelling and Imaginative Play with Superspace is an interdisciplinary language arts lesson for 2nd and 3rd grade, ages 6-9 (2-3 hours, can span multiple sessions).
Students plan, build, write, and perform original stories using Superspace panels as life-sized settings and props. After an opening circle on story elements, small groups brainstorm characters, setting, and plot, sketch ideas in journals, then construct their story worlds with panels and art supplies. Students write and illustrate their narratives, rehearse with their built settings as backdrops, and present to the class with peer feedback.
The lesson connects narrative writing, expressive storytelling, art, and practical life skills through open-ended play. Differentiation options include story starter cards, home language storytelling for ELL students with peer interpreters, and story arc analysis for advanced writers.
